Young Locals Shape Global Initiative image

Cisco, a global IT and networking company with 70,000 employees across 90 countries has partnered with ACRE and the students of north east Victoria. Cisco has developed an animated learning program called the Global Problem Solvers which promotes social entrepreneurship in the classroom. It has a global audience of Year 4 to 8 students. (www.gpstheseries.com) After learning of ACRE’s ground-breaking work in schools with the Social Enterprise Schools initiative, Cisco approached ACRE to collaborate. Social Enterprise Schools teaches students the business skills necessary to develop enterprises which solve social, cultural or environmental issues. Funding Announcement for Business Incubator in Beechworth – a first for Regional Victoria! image

Entrepreneurs, innovators and start up businesses from across North East Victoria and Southern NSW are set to benefit after ACRE was awarded a federal government grant of $491,000 to establish a business incubator as part of the government’s $23 million Incubator Support initiative. Breakout Accelerator is a partnership between ACRE and SecondMuse which is a collaboration agency focused on high-impact ecosystem incubation. Centred around the creation of a new incubator at the Old Beechworth Goal, ACRE’s Breakout Accelerator program is designed to leverage regional, national and international networks in order to open up and introduce regional and rural startup entrepreneurs to the broad innovation ecosystem.
