ACRE is delighted to support non-for-profit Boys to the Bush to further their important work with youth, through the utilisation of Typo Station on Taungurung Country, King Valley.
It was back in 1993 when Matt Pfahlert, now Co-Founder and CEO of ACRE, first started a social enterprise, working with at risk youth in wilderness settings, including TYPO Station where the idea for ACRE emerged. As a result of his work, Matt was awarded Young Australian of the Year in 1996.
Fast forward to 2022 when TYPO was entrusted to ACRE from Mind Australia. Since then we have been working to restore the location, made possible by the generous support of Ross Trust.
While there is still plenty of work to do, we are thrilled to now have the grounds of TYPO Station up to scratch for Boys to the Boys to utilise for wilderness camps.
The partnership was formalised in Albury-Wodonga last week with Adam DeMamiel and Tim Sanson of Boys to the Bush.
Since 2017 Boys to the Bush has impacted over 7,000 lives, focusing on prevention and early intervention strategies for vulnerable male youth through a range of programs including 1:1 MENtoring Programs, Camps, School Programs, Education Programs, Alternative Care Arrangements and Community Engagement Days.
Ongoing support is provided to over 75% of the youth that engaged with Boys to the Bush programs.
